NIX Solutions: OpenAI Expands DALL-E 3 Access to Free Users

OpenAI has announced a significant update to its ChatGPT service, allowing free plan users to create up to two images per day using the DALL-E 3 model. This change is part of the company’s strategy to expand the functionality of its products and make advanced AI tools more accessible to a wider audience.

DALL-E 3, launched in September 2023, was initially available only to subscribers of the paid ChatGPT Plus plan. Now, the service has become available to a broader range of users, albeit with some limitations. In addition to expanding the availability of the service, it has also received new features. If previously it was necessary to formulate queries to create images yourself, now ChatGPT will help with this. Users can simply ask it to write a topic prompt, streamlining the image generation process.

Recent OpenAI Developments

OpenAI has made several other important announcements recently. The company provided a security assessment of its GPT-4 model, added a new member to its board of directors, and CEO Sam Altman received a letter from Democrats in Congress demanding clarification on OpenAI’s security issues.

The free image creation feature for DALL-E 3 is in the process of rolling out, notes NIX Solutions. Some users have already been able to access it. In particular, a journalist from The Verge was able to create two images in the ChatGPT Mac app before receiving a notification that they had reached their daily image creation limit.

As an example of the new functionality, Aditya Ramesh, lead researcher and head of the DALL-E team, asked ChatGPT to help him come up with a logo for a cafe located near the mountains. Based on this short query, ChatGPT wrote a longer and more detailed prompt, and DALL-E offered four image options.

We’ll keep you updated on any further developments or changes to the DALL-E 3 integration in ChatGPT. As OpenAI continues to refine and expand its offerings, users can expect ongoing improvements and new features in the future.
