Claude 3.7 Sonnet and Amazon Partnership

This funding round follows the launch of Anthropic’s flagship AI model, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, the first hybrid AI reasoning model on the market. Additionally, the company has strengthened its partnership with Amazon, its lead investor and strategic partner. In November, Amazon invested an additional $4 billion in Anthropic. The two companies are also working on an upgraded Alexa+ virtual assistant.

Revenue Growth and New Developments

Anthropic’s revenue continues to grow, with last year’s annual revenue reaching approximately $1 billion. According to TechCrunch, revenue is expected to increase by 30% in 2025, driven by API sales and subscriptions to its AI chatbot Claude. However, the company is investing heavily in development and is projected to incur a $3 billion loss this year.

To improve profitability, Anthropic is focusing on launching new tools, including computer “agents,” a desktop client, and mobile applications, notes NIX Solutions. The company has also expanded its presence in Europe and made key hires, such as Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger, OpenAI co-founder Durk Kingma, and former OpenAI security researcher Jan Leike.

Founded in 2021 by CEO Dario Amodei, a former VP of Research at OpenAI, Anthropic was established with a team of ex-OpenAI employees, including former policy chief Jack Clark. The company aims to position itself as a more security-focused alternative to OpenAI.

As Anthropic continues to expand and innovate, we’ll keep you updated on further developments.
