NIX Solutions: Google Unveils Gemini Live Voice Chat at Pixel 9 Event

At the Pixel 9 event, Google announced a groundbreaking new voice chat mode for Gemini called “Gemini Live.” This feature bears a striking resemblance to ChatGPT’s voice chat functionality, offering users multiple voice options and the ability to engage in natural conversations, including the option to interrupt AI responses at any time.

Gemini Live presents a free-form experience, allowing users to interrupt responses mid-sentence, pause the conversation without pressing any buttons, and resume it later. The feature also works in the background and when the phone’s screen is locked. Notably, Google had first hinted at Gemini Live during its I/O developer conference earlier this year, where it was mentioned that “Live” would have the capability to interpret video in real-time.

In a move to enhance user experience, Google has introduced 10 new voices for Gemini, giving users a variety of options to choose from. The feature has begun rolling out today on Android devices, currently only available in English. However, Google has promised that Gemini Live will be coming to iOS in the coming weeks, with support for additional languages. We’ll keep you updated on these developments as they unfold.

Additional Features and Availability

Alongside Gemini Live, Google has unveiled other features for the AI assistant, including the ability to analyze the context of a user’s screenl, adds NIX Solutions. This feature is reminiscent of an AI capability recently announced by Apple at WWDC. Once a user selects “Ask about this screen” or “Ask about this video,” Gemini will be able to provide information, including extracting details like destinations from travel videos to add to Google Maps.

It’s important to note that Gemini Live will initially be available exclusively to Gemini Advanced subscribers. As the rollout progresses, we’ll keep you informed about any changes in availability or additional features that may be introduced.
