NIX Solutions: Instagram Enhances Reels with Multi-Track Audio

Instagram has expanded opportunities for creative expression for Reels creators, now allowing them to add up to 20 audio tracks to a single video. After adding tracks, users can edit them and leave only the necessary fragments. This feature is available to users around the world.

Previously, creators had to use third-party applications to mix multiple pieces of music into one video. Now, a new track can be added directly in the Reels editor by clicking on the “Add to mix” button. This innovation simplifies the process and enhances the creative possibilities for users.

Empowering Creators with Multi-Track Editing

“Running a multi-track audio editor in Reels gives creators creative flexibility, allowing them to mix audio with elements such as text, stickers, and clips. All in order to express their creativity and ideas the way they see it,” the company said in a statement. At the same time, Instagram will automatically indicate the name of the author of the sound mix, and other users will be able to create their own videos based on it, TechCrunch reports.

This new feature emphasizes Instagram’s focus on developing the short video format. Earlier this month, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri stated that the platform had no plans to compete with YouTube in the long-form video space, but would instead focus on sharing short clips between users, reminds NIX Solutions.

Focus on Short-Form Content

“Long videos are less useful in tasks that involve user interaction. For example, it’s less likely that a 10- or 20-minute video will be forwarded to a friend,” Mosseri noted on his Instagram Reel. “That’s why we don’t plan to get into the long-form video space. Our main goal is to unite and connect people, and we don’t want to deviate from that idea, even though we understand that short videos don’t always do that job.”

Instagram’s commitment to enhancing Reels with features like multi-track audio editing shows its dedication to empowering creators and adapting to user preferences. As always, we’ll keep you updated on any further developments.
