NIXSolutions: X Expands Video Tools for U.S. Users

Social network X is moving quickly to benefit from the removal of ByteDance apps, such as TikTok and Lemon8, from U.S. online stores. In an effort to attract users seeking alternatives, the platform has introduced a vertical video feature, ensuring U.S. users can easily engage with video content.

New Video Tab for Enhanced Access

X has added a dedicated video tab to the bottom bar of its app for U.S. users, enabling seamless access to video content. “A new video viewing tool will be available to users in the U.S. today,” the company stated. Previously, users could view short videos by tapping the “Video” button on their timelines and scrolling up. Now, this dedicated section simplifies navigation and enhances the user experience.

This isn’t the first time X has ventured into video features. According to TechCrunch, the platform previously experimented with a multimedia tab through reverse engineering. However, the new video section marks its official rollout, reinforcing X’s growing focus on media content. Last year, the company even introduced a TV app to showcase videos from creators and organizations, reminds NIXSolutions.

Competing in the Evolving Media Landscape

The uncertainty surrounding ByteDance’s services in the U.S. has spurred social media companies to innovate. X is taking advantage of this by experimenting with video tools, while other platforms are also stepping up their efforts. Meta, for instance, announced a video editing app called Edits to rival ByteDance’s CapCut. Similarly, Bluesky launched a customizable feed for vertical videos, aiming to capture some of TikTok’s audience.

As the competition heats up, X is positioning itself as a key player in video content delivery. We’ll keep you updated on further developments as X continues its push into the video space.
