“With this feature, you can now securely share passwords with your family group in Google Password Manager. When you share a password, your family members receive a copy of it in their Google Password Manager—ready to use,” reads the description on Google’s support page.

Rollout and Availability

The company announced this feature in February 2024 as part of Safer Internet Day, but it is only being rolled out now with the Google Play Services v24.20 update in May 2024. Password sharing is strictly limited to family group members. To use this feature, you must create a family group and add members who can use it. It is not yet enabled in the desktop version, NIXSolutions clarifies.

Practical Uses and Future Up dates

Google provided a couple of examples where the password sharing feature might be useful. This feature is handy if two family members access the kindergarten system through one account or when a child allows only one parent to access their school assignments. We’ll keep you updated as Google continues to expand and improve its password manager functionalities.
