NIX Solutions: Youtube Algorithm Found 99% of Copyright Infringement

The company has published the first report on the work of services that are responsible for maintaining copyright on Youtube.

NIX Solutions

The report provides statistics for the first six months of 2021 on the number of blocked videos, as well as the share that is disputed by content authors. During this period, more than 99% (722.7 million) of violations of rights on the platform were detected by the automated Content ID service.

The remaining cases (about 1.6 million) were submitted manually by copyright holders using the Copyright Match Tool, says Dev. The document emphasizes that it is extremely rare for content creators to independently dispute copyright infringement. In the first half of 2021, less than 1% of all applications generated by Content ID were contested.

About 60% (2.2 million) of disputes were resolved in favor of the users who published the video, and the rest (about 1.5 million) in favor of the plaintiff, notes NIX Solutions. According to the authors of the report, the system is not ideal, since any technology is not able to take into account the complexity of copyright and give an objective assessment of publications.
